Dearest community,
Since July of 2021, OlyMAP has been providing outreach-based case management and site support services to 200+ people living in local camp communities through the Scattered Site Pilot Project, funded by Thurston County. Despite the hardships faced by camp communities this year – including multiple sweeps – OlyMAP was able to provide support for residents that went beyond the original goals laid out for the project.
OlyMAP received funding from Thurston County last June to operate these programs for one year. We are nearing the end of that year and continued funding for these programs has not yet been identified.
Though we have applied for and received some other funding throughout the year, without further funding sources identified soon, we are facing the very real possibility of having to shut down operations (hopefully temporarily)—except for our hoteling program– in July.
We are doing all we can to make sure that we do not have to reduce or shut down services after June and we are still hopeful that we will be able to find a way to continue providing services. However, with the end date nearing and no confirmation yet, we wanted to start talking with our community about possibility of this now.
Many in the community have known us since before we were funded by Thurston County and may remember how we provided support before this last year. If we do need to temporarily close most operations, support will most likely return to the level it was before this year.
If you have any questions, concerns or would like more information, please reach out to us at contact@olymap.org.
